Great Avetts January 30, 2010 Robert M. Prophit (Charlotte) Have been a long time fan of the Avetts. Like all their albums, but Live Vol II is, to me,their finest. Avetts are on the road to stardom now, and I and Love and You is a great album, but to truly hear the real Avett Bros. This is the one to buy.
Great Album September 2, 2009 J. R. C. Ramsay (Hampden-Sydney, VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For the most part, this album epitomizes the energy and raw power of an Avett Brothers concert. The mix of high energy songs ("Walking for You," "A lot of Movin'," "A Gift for Melody Anne") and soothing ballads & love songs (a tremendous version of "November Blue," "Offering")is perfect. Furthermore, the audio mix also captures the essence of a standard TAB audience without overpowering the vocal tracks; a task that was undoubtedly difficult to accomplish.
Overall, a great album for long-time Avett fans and Avett newbies alike. It stays in heavy rotation around our house.
Best band in the world July 3, 2009 Debra K. Kilpatrick (Kansas City, MO) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
best band ever and they are unreal live. They have such a diverse unique sound unseen in modern music.
Lovin' Live April 20, 2009 Kristy Wasilewski (AK USA) The Avett Brothers Live Vol. 2 is more than one can put in words. Buy it, listen to it, love it. The band and crowd have a wonderful connection, the music fills your head, the words fill your heart. This album has elements of heartache, joy, ire, and grit. All strung together on the mood and melody that is the gift of the Avett Brothers.
Outstanding in the Shade February 9, 2009 W. L Willard (Clearwater, FL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son turned me on to the Avetts when he was home on leave this Christmas. Took a few listens, but now I play them all the time and sing along in the car and in my office at home. The melodies and harmonies are outstanding, but I suggest listening to the studio recordings first to get a sense of the music as written before delving into the freewheeling live sessions. Both are good, but the former is more accessible to the first-timer than the latter. And it's not just for kids!
