Product Description
Now available in faster 8X write speed, Memorex DVD+R Double Layer media stores up to 8.5GB of data files and approximately 240 minutes of video (SP mode) on a single disc as compared to 4.7GB on a single layer disc. DL discs can be played back on most DVD players and offer users the convenience of storing long length programming, sporting events and video footage on one disc.

1 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY - WASTE OF MONEY   January 4, 2009
John Jacobs
Turned up nothing but coasters. Even at the slowest speeds. If you are burning anything for your x360 then stay away.

5 out of 5 stars no problems burning, good price   January 3, 2009

The price for this pack caught my attention ($33) but I was very leary because of the negative reviews siting burn failures. Because of Amazon's decent return policy, I decided to take a chance and purchased a spindle. I have burned 2 discs so far with no problems and am in the middle of the 3rd. So far, so good. If I encounter any problems I will update my review.

5 out of 5 stars 100% burning rate with the right hardware/firmware.   January 1, 2009

My experience using this product has been excellent for the past two years and have had no burning problems. My DVD burner is a Sony DRU-810A. For those who appear to have a problem burning, I'd recommend checking for latest firmware/drivers for the DVD writer. More than likely it's the hardware drivers not the discs. Also some DVD writers have recommended media brands, so review the technical specs. Some DVD writers cannot handle 8x DL discs without firmware update. There aren't very many 8x DL disc brands to choose from in spindle form, so this product is needed.

4 out of 5 stars cant beat them for the MONEY   January 1, 2009

I've ordered several of the 50 pk spindles. I have to throw a disc out from time to time but the cost per usable disc is still far better than any other. Got the last spindle for only $37, had five coasters in that batch of 50. That means 45 good discs for $37 = ~82cents per disc. I give them 3 stars on quality but five stars for affordability.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Ignore This Warning   December 30, 2008

I purchased the "Memorex" dual layer discs several times before, with a couple coming from Amazon like this last time. I had previously read the poor reviews but had not experience any problems myself, until now. The first four discs worked fine without a hitch but after that coding deficiencies occurred that made it impossible to play on a DVD player. I am not talking about some out dated DVD player but a Samsung 1080P7-Upconversion DVD player that was purchase new just last year. Thinking it might be my equipment or something that I was doing I experimented with different settings, programs and finally I had a friend try a disc with his equipment to see what would happen. He reported having the same problem. I tried a disc at the bottom of the pack to find out if perhaps not all were bad but the result was the same. I then purchase the "Verbatim" dual layer disc and recorded the same medium material on it with no problem. These results determined unequivocally that all the remaining Memorex discs were bad. So now I am left with forty-one bad Memorex dual layer discs out of the pack of fifty that I purchased. Obviously I should have not ignored the poor reviews related to this product and neither should you. The money I lost is small compared to the personal time lost and level of aggravation I experienced.
